Before heading off to buy a double jogging stroller for your family, you need to know what to look for, what makes a good double jogging stroller, and what your family’s specific needs are.
Here are some things to look for, and some considerations to make when buying a double stroller:
Type of double stroller –
You need to decide if you want a side-by-side stroller, or an inline stroller, one that has an extra seat in the front. Side-by-side strollers usually offer a better and more equal experience for your babies, with adjustable canopies and seats, and each child having a full view of the environment around them. However they can be quite wide and won’t fit through most doorways, and they might be larger than normal strollers when folded up. You need to consider your trunk space when buying a side-by-side stroller. Other strollers that have one seat in front of the other, inline strollers, usually fit through doorways easily, but one child might not have a full view of the scenery around them.
When using a double stroller for jogging, it is a good idea to buy a stroller with three wheels. A large front wheel will offer easy maneuverability when out on different terrain, with easy turning. Rubber tires also fair better than plastic tires and should be sought after when buying a double stroller.
You don’t want to buy a whole host of different strollers for your babies. Finding a stroller that is compatible with car seats and bassinets, making it a full travel system, will save you a lot of hassle, and a lot of money. There are many on the market that can be customized using different attachments to suit your environment and needs.
Most of the time, you will be using your double jogging stroller outdoors. You never know when the weather might change, or simply to keep the sun off your babies, a large canopy with UV protection is a must. It will keep them safe from the sun and keep any rain off them if you are stuck in a sudden downpour.
Reclining seats –
Your babies are going to have different needs all the time. One might want a nap, and the other might want to watch butterflies on a trail. Reclining seats that move independently of each other is a must. Each baby will be comfortable and have their own needs met.
It would be so frustrating to spend money buying a double stroller and finding out it doesn’t actually fit into your car when folded. If you have a smaller car, an inline double stroller might be the better option, as they usually fold up smaller than the side-by-side strollers.
Age of children –
Some families use double strollers for an older sibling, not only twins. One child might be older than the other and obviously, weigh more. Make sure the stroller you choose can accommodate the weight of both children, and be comfortable for both ages as well.
Once you have a good stroller, the next thing you need is a stroller organizer. Read our article about the best stroller organizers here.
