Meet the Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller

The Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller excels in versatility because of its four various seating arrangements. Parents appreciate that this tandem stroller can be converted into a Chicco travel system by using two KeyFit or KeyFit 30 infant car seats. It’s great to use for twins or siblings of various ages.

If you only need one car seat, you can choose to mount it on the front or back seat of the Cortina Together. Two older kids can ride without a car seat. Chicco understands the value of offering a variety of alternatives for parents.

Value for Money

Parents like the Cortina Together’s one-handed maneuverability and smooth ride. They also like this stroller’s versatility, as car seats can be placed either at the front or back seat without needing to deal with straps or adapters.

It’s durable and sturdy, too. Two cup holders are included, which parents appreciate as paying for anything extra could affect their overall stroller budget.

It’s worth noting that some parents find the Cortina Together not ideal for daily use and just leave it at home due to its weight. In this case, it could turn out to be an impractical buy.

What parents say

“For a newborn and a two-year-old, it’s perfect for what we require. Since it is well made, it works excellently. Although it seems a touch weighty, it is not awful. It is worth it.” – N. May 20, 2019, 5 stars

“I don’t regret buying it because it’s a nice stroller overall, but if I had to buy a new one, I think I’d probably look into other possibilities first.” – T. April 10, 2021, 5 stars

“It’s not ideal for daily use, therefore I found myself frequently leaving it at home. I’ve probably used it a total of six times. Now that my child has outgrown his Chicco car seat, I’m getting rid of it and purchasing a different double stroller.” – T. July 31, 2020, 4 stars

Ease of Use

The lack of a cup holder in the back seat and the front seat’s minimal recline have received criticism from some parents. However, the back seat of the Cortina Together does lie flat enough for a baby to rest comfortably.

Parents appreciate how adapters or straps are not necessary when installing a car seat in the front or back seat.

The padded five-point adjustable safety harnesses are simple for parents to unfasten, but too challenging for young children.

What parents say

“At first it took me a bit to understand the way the handle works to fold/unfold. You have to make sure the “trigger”, for lack of a better word, is fully depressed BEFORE trying to lift.” – T. November 6, 2021, 5 stars

“The push handles reach my lower chest at a height of 5’5″. It’s amazing, and I’m really impressed. Additionally, the instructions were really straightforward.” – L. November 27, 2020, 5 stars

“I love its simple lock, handle, and down- or up-folding with one hand.” – M. October 28, 2021, 3 stars

“I assembled it myself in about 15 minutes. Being somewhat small (5’0″), I found it to be incredibly simple to fold, unfold. It’s easy to maneuver this large stroller.” – L. January 16, 2019, 5 stars

Parent Tip!

Because the Cortina Together is comfortable for kids and has plenty of storage space, it is perfect for extended outings – as long as there are no slopes, like going to an amusement park, the zoo, or a parade. Kindly note that it’s not really suitable for everyday use.

Portability

A double stroller must be strong enough to support the weight of one or two energetic kids, one or more car seats, plus any additional luggage and essentials you might need to bring. Your stroller needs to be sturdy to last a long period in these conditions.

This tandem stroller weighs 30 lbs. and it’s slightly lighter than its competitors.

Some owners of the Chicco Cortina Together are dissatisfied because even though this stroller folds up very compactly, it still does not fit into the vehicles they own.

Parent Tips!

It appears to be sturdy but is also rather heavy, so after a C-section you might not be able to lift it.

We would advise measuring your car’s trunk before purchasing this stroller because it is too large to fit in a normal car. You can remove the hoods – it won’t buy you much space, though.

What parents say

“It is lightweight, but because it is so tall when folded and I am just 5’3″, I find it difficult to get it into my van.” – M. June 2, 2019, 4 stars

“The only aspect of this stroller that I don’t particularly enjoy is how large it is, even when folded.” –A. September 3, 2019, 3 stars

“If it is for two people, the stroller will probably be heavy. We have a Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat, and it fits perfectly here.” – N. February 21, 2020, 5 stars

Maneuverability

The Cortina Together’s wheels are EVA foam-coated and have a tread pattern that is only for aesthetic purposes; it has no bearing on how well they work.

Its wheels give it the maneuverability that parents rave about. They like its features such as its nine-inch rear wheels and front optional locking wheels. While the Cortina Together is not an all-terrain stroller, it can move over dirt paths and grass when the front wheels are locked. It gives a feeling though, that it could tip over on uneven surfaces.

Unfortunately, much like many of the reviews for double strollers, pushing the Cortina Together on hard, flat surfaces can require a lot of energy due its length and overall weight.

Parents also find this double stroller too big to take to the mall. It needs a good amount of space to be maneuvered comfortably.

What parents say

“It’s great for going outside. But for areas that don’t have lots of space, it can get problematic. For instance, it’s too big to fit through many mall storefronts.” – A. September 3, 2019, 3 stars

“It’s excellent, but because of its length, it can tip over when you’re on uneven ground, and occasionally I have to catch it to make sure it won’t.” – D. December 21, 2019, 4 stars

“My twins find the ride comfortable and they enjoy using it. It is simple to push and steer. I can fold and unfold it with one hand.” – A. August 12, 2020, 4 stars

“A large child should not ride in the front seat of this stroller. It’s VERY challenging to navigate when my 3-year-old is in the front seat. A strong upper body is required.” – L. April 9, 2021, 2 stars

Safety and Quality

This double stroller’s fabric is attractive, but it has a rough texture that could chafe your little one’s skin. Its seats are padded firmly, and its storage basket is made of sturdier fabric than others.

Some negative remarks have been made about the sun canopies. While the back canopy has a peek-a-boo area and the front canopy is detachable, this double stroller’s canopies are small and somewhat frail. On another note, your baby might enjoy fiddling with the front canopy if they learn that it rotates all the way down. When folding the Cortina Together, the front canopy also gets in the way.

Parents find the padded five-point adjustable safety harnesses simple to unfasten, but not easy for the little passengers to unlock, which is helpful.

What parents say

“Other than being far too large, it has good qualities.” – A. July 14, 2019, 3 stars

“It’s a problem to fold the canopy if you want it to stay attached. The canopies are quite difficult to fasten. It might fall off occasionally, and it hurts if you inadvertently clip your finger in it because you decided to merely take it off and put it back on each time you use it.” – M. October 28, 2021, 3 stars

“The canopies are difficult to use to protect infants from the sun. They’re inadequate.” – M. July 16, 2020, 5 stars

“The sun screens are completely ineffective.” – A. December 30, 2021, 5 stars

Accessorize Your Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller

As a standard, this double stroller comes with a huge basket with back zipper access; it provides plenty of space for large items.

It also includes a parent tray which has two cup holders and storage for smaller items. Also, there are two cup holders for the front seat.

The Cortina Together doesn’t offer any other extras at this time.

What parents say

“My Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat is compatible with it, and it clicks in and out with ease. Each person has access to a cup holder.” – T. July 31, 2020, 4 stars

“I think the two cup holders in front of the Cortina one-seaters are too shallow, but there are two up top where the handle is, so that kind of makes up for it. I also wish there was a cup holder for the back seat.” – A. April 27, 2020, 5 stars

“A cup holder is only permitted for the infant in the front.” – M. July 16, 2020, 5 stars

Is the Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller Right for Your Family?

The Cortina Together could be a good fit for your family if you’re on the lookout for these features:

Car seat compatibility – it can fit the Chicco Keyfit and Fit2 car seats for infants. These make it possible to fit in two infants in one stroller.

Tandem style – compared to a twin (side-by-side) stroller, the Cortina Together is helpful especially when needing to walk through narrow or busy streets.

Seat recline for both seats – the front seat reclines into 2 positions. The rear seat reclines into 4 positions. The rear recline allows newborns to lay flat on their back.

Parent/child tray – this double stroller comes with a parent tray with 2 cupholders, plus another 2 cupholders for your child sitting in the front.

Adjustable handlebar height – its adjustable handlebar suits shorter or taller parents easily.

Child weight capacity – this stroller weighs 34 lbs. and can carry up to 40 lbs. for each child.

Please just be mindful of a few hiccups – it can’t fit into small cars or small storage spaces, plus it can get a bit too heavy to handle, especially when it’s fully loaded with cargo – kids and all the necessary stuff you need for your outings.

If you don’t mind these two minor drawbacks, then the Chicco Cortina Together could serve as a helpful travel system for you and your children.
