Meet the Chicco Activ3 Air Jogging Stroller

The Chicco Activ3 Air was designed for parents who like to bring their little ones along while jogging.

It also serves well as a primary mode of transportation for those daily strolls.

Unfortunately, this Chicco option requires complicated folding and is big and hefty. While its three wheels and rubber tires are appealing, this stroller lacks mobility, and many parents believe that its materials are merely ordinary.

Let’s have a closer look at this stroller’s details.

Value for Money

At time of writing, the Activ3 Air’s Q Collection model costs $300.00 on Amazon.

Given its greater price over better-performing strollers which cost a lot less, we believe some parents could be dissatisfied with its limited infant car seat compatibility and harness modifications.

While parents generally like Chicco products, parents don’t think the Activ3 Air stroller is the best choice.

Chicco doesn’t usually offer all-terrain strollers. It would probably be good to take that as a hint before buying a jogging stroller from a brand that is known for building stroller systems.

If your stroller budget is a main concern, then Chicco could be a brand to consider. Just bear in mind that it can be tough to maneuver and doesn’t perform as well as other jogging strollers that are more worthy for their price range.

What parents say

“With excellent mobility, it is quite simple to use. The Keyfit 30 car seat that we have is completely compatible. I absolutely have no concerns, and this is comparable to brands that cost more money.” – S. May 18, 2022, 5 stars

“It’s a fantastic product. I bought it for my first granddaughter. My daughter likes it. It’s very durable and works well on gravel walks. Definitely worth purchasing.” – T. June 15, 2020, 5 stars

“Still, I have to confess that this stroller is quite well made; jogs are easy, walks are straightforward, and its rain protection functions as it should. My wife (5’2″) and I (6’1″) can both comfortably use the adjustable handle height, so it’s well worth it.” – C. February 18, 2022, 5 stars

“It is heavy, but jogging strollers tend to be like that. I really recommend it.” – S. August 12, 2020, 5 stars

Ease of Use

In terms of usability, the Activ3 Air is somewhat better than average. The difficulty of this stroller’s setup was average, taking 10mins 31secs. Despite it having an auto-lock mechanism and features self-standing and one-handed folding, this stroller lacks a carry handle.

Folding this stroller requires 11 steps to complete and 5 steps to unfold it. It seems more complicated than other solutions, but it isn’t difficult.

As for its 5-point harness, it’s quite difficult to use in terms of putting it on and taking it off. Overall, it’s average; adjusting the straps is the simplest to do.

What parents say

“The rear wheels frequently become caught and lock after you unlock the front ones. To unlock all wheels, I have to struggle constantly.” – L. April 18, 2022, 2 stars

“The only drawbacks I can see are that the seat lacked ventilation during the hot summer days and that the top plastic reflects sunlight, making it difficult to see through it.” – T. February 21, 2022, 5 stars

“Both hands are needed for folding and unfolding. It’s the only drawback I can think of.” – J. February 3, 2021, 3 stars

“It’s too huge for congested areas. I have to be cautious when walking behind people because the front wheel sticks out significantly.” – C. November 26, 2019, 5 stars

“My little one falls asleep quite quickly once I put him in his Chicco Key Fit 30 car seat, which clicks in place so simply.” – E. July 1, 2019, 5 stars

Compared to the other strollers, the Activ3 Air feels bulky and hefty. With a weight of 27.1 lbs., this stroller is one of the heaviest in its class.

On the other hand, it is simple to store and carry this stroller because of how compact it folds. Many parents have praised this jogging stroller for this reason.

On the contrary, for some parents, this stroller’s size remains the main source of frustration.

What parents say

“It is portable and simple to fold. You can put it in your pick-up when you go grocery shopping. Although the front wheel is a little out of place, it can extend downward to save more room.” – T. February 21, 2022, 5 stars

“It gives off the impression of being a dated or somewhat oddly made stroller. It weighs a ton and is enormous. The fabric is trash.” – S. December 9, 2018, 1 star

“This stroller can be stressful to disassemble and fit it into the trunk. It’s not due to complexity, but rather because of size.” – C. November 26, 2019, 5 stars

Overall, the Activ3 Air isn’t as fantastic as some of the parents who participated in our survey had hoped for. But it is still superior to some of its rivals.

The fact that it is a better ride is due to its larger wheels and rubber tires. On another note, its frame has a lot of flex, which can be problematic when pushing and navigating around bumps or rough terrain.

What parents say

“My baby can move around very easily, and shocks help make the bumps less harsh. While it’s a little bigger than I had anticipated, it is still essential!” – S. April 4, 2021, 5 stars

“This jogging stroller has been fantastic because all of our local roads are gravel. At first, I was concerned, but it handled every degree of gravel like a pro.” – S. August 9, 2022, 5 stars

“Almost every day, we take our kid running on dirt, mud, and gravel. Sand is the only issue – all wheels have issues with it.” – A. July 14, 2020, 5 stars

Safety & Quality

Although the Chicco Activ3 Air’s frame has a beautiful appearance, it flexes. To add, the handlebar is not well clamped.

Since its tires are foam-filled rubber, you may enjoy the comfort of rubber without worrying about a flat.

While the seat is hard and the shocks are good and adjustable, these qualities combined only provide moderate passenger comfort.

As for the Activ3 Air’s handbrakes, these may be activated near the parent console at the back of the stroller for simple and secure parking. These also make stopping the stroller while running safer.

What parents say

“It took approximately 15 minutes to set up, and it works well now. It gives off a strong, secure feeling. It costs more to have high quality. The Chicco car seat is quite simple to install on top.” – J. July 8, 2022, 5 stars

“It’s just so ideal! I use my Chicco Keyfit 35 with it. I really love the lock that prevents it from turning side to side and the lock that prevents it from sliding forward and backward. I also appreciate that it unlocks with just one button. Furthermore, folding and unfolding it is really simple.” – S. April 30, 2021, 5 stars

Accessorize Your Chicco Activ3 Air

It’s always great to have a parent cup holder, but most strollers do not always include one. A parent cup holder is included with the Activ3 Air. Additionally, it has a parent console with two shallow cup slots and center storage, which might not be able to accommodate larger cell phones.

What parents say

“The parent tray is made of fabric so that drinks won’t spill out.” – E. November 13, 2021, 5 stars

“The lack of a child tray surprises me. I didn’t think it would matter that much. My child’s sippy cup ends up on the ground because he has nowhere to put it. I visited Chicco’s website to see if they had any trays I could purchase. There are no accessories available for this stroller.” – T. September 17, 2021, 3 stars

“Remember that there is no snack tray or cup holder for your baby in this stroller.” – J. August 4, 2019

Should Your Family Consider the Chicco Activ3 Air Jogging Stroller?

The Chicco Activ3 Air jogging stroller only has two colors available – Atmos and Q Collection – which could be limiting for parents who want to balance style and functionality.

Despite being car seat compatible, you can only use Chicco infant car seats on this jogging stroller. If you currently own a different car seat, this might not be the best option for you because you’d need to buy a new one for the Activ3 Air.

A stroller’s weight capacity is a crucial factor for parents to think about. Fortunately, the Chicco Activ3 Air is strong enough to support children weighing up to 50 lbs. When choosing a stroller for your child, it’s crucial to adhere to the suggested weight restriction. Therefore, don’t get this stroller if you think your child is heavier than 50 lbs. to prevent any unwanted damage to the stroller or injuries to your little ones.

This stroller is great for people who often use it on uneven surfaces. Good suspension is important with an all-terrain jogger to smooth out the bumps. The Chicco Activ3 features an adjustable suspension which can be controlled with your foot.

This stroller isn’t particularly for families who doesn’t have much space in their home. While it folds flat and is fairly compact, its large front wheel makes it quite challenging to put away.

It might not be the best in terms of overall looks, but it may be ideal for practical parents who value comfort over style.
