Meet the Baby Jogger City Elite Single Stroller

Just a quick heads up – the Baby Jogger City Elite was discontinued in the USA in 2016, but it is still sold by some web retailers such as Target and AlbeeBaby.

A terrific alternative to the City Elite is the City Mini GT2, another top-notch all-terrain stroller. Many traits and advantages are shared by both strollers.

Please bear in mind that the City Elite is not a jogging stroller. Anyone could easily assume that this stroller is a jogger because of the name of its manufacturer, Baby Jogger.

Value for Money

As previously mentioned, the City Elite Single Stroller is no longer available on Amazon or even on the official Baby Jogger store. When it was on sale, you could purchase it for $280 instead of the original price which ranged from $300 to $399. Attachments like the belly bar, snack tray, and cup holders weren’t included in the package.

What parents say

“While somewhat expensive, this stroller is really worth it! Before and after buying this stroller, we looked at a number of models, but none were as beautifully made and designed as this one.” – C. March 12, 2013, 5 stars

“For comfort, this stroller is worth the money. In terms of mobility, it doesn’t go beyond 3mph.” – T. April 7, 2011, 4 stars

“It’s a stroller that is simple to maneuver. Its sturdy construction is worth the money.” – Z. September 25, 2010, 5 stars

Ease of Use

Numerous features of the Baby Jogger City Elite make it a popular stroller choice. Many of these unique features make it easy for parents and other caregivers to get through their daily activities.

The City Elite has a ton of high-end amenities such as plush padding, ventilation, and a big canopy. It’s highly suitable for local outings to the park or the grocery store and all-terrain excursions.

What parents say

“The canopy’s magnetic latches are fantastic, and I’m awestruck by how much area it covers. Once I figured out how to adjust the straps, which were initially a little challenging, the process became quite simple.” – J. August 13, 2010, 5 stars

“I like how the handle is adjustable. I can still use a carabiner to hang my stroller from the back of a strong door hook. One-handed folding is simple.” – M. April 21, 2011, 5 stars

“I like the brake and its features because they work great. I never had trouble putting the stroller together, and it is so easy to maneuver.” – M. October 30, 2011, 5 stars

“The basket is too small even for a diaper bag. It doesn’t help when you use it for shopping. It can get really uncomfortable, I tell you.” – S. September 7, 2010, 3 stars

Portability

You can remove the City Elite’s wheels to fold it even smaller for storage, thanks to the quick-release mechanism on the wheels. It also features one-hand folding which is a plus for parents on the go. The seat’s central strap may simply be pulled to release the seat. Immediately after activating, the automatic lock secures the stroller. Some parents have reported that it is a bit bulky and heavy, but it is not a major concern.

What parents say

“It’s enormous, hefty, and massive. I didn’t like it when I used it at first.” – Y. January 4, 2011, 4 stars

“Despite being somewhat heavy, it collapses very quickly. In all honesty, if you can lift your child (20–28 lbs.), you can lift this stroller.” – Z. September 25, 2010, 4 stars

“If you aren’t bothered by stroller size, the City Elite is generally the perfect stroller for you.” – M. May 19, 2012, 4 stars

“I expected it to be a little hard to hoist onto my SUV as I’m a small person. But it’s not at all horrible.” – J. August 13, 2010, 4 stars

Maneuverability

The City Elite has three 12-inch wheels which are easier to maneuver than strollers with larger wheels. Your infant will experience a comfortable ride, thanks to an effective suspension on the front tire that effectively absorbs road bumps. Most parents who participated in our survey are happy with the performance of this stroller.

What parents say

“I felt every bump when I was using it on cobblestone, gravel, or uneven sidewalks.” – J. April 16, 2011, 3 stars

“Living on a beach with this stroller is way easy. It’s all incredibly lightweight.” – S. November 13, 2010, 4 stars

“We push the stroller over a variety of surfaces, including trails, the beach, supermarkets, etc., with no issues.” – J. August 13, 2010, 5 stars

Safety and Quality

The City Elite has some high-level safety features for babies.

Its hand-operated parking brake securely locks its wheels, preventing the stroller from rolling away on its own.

It is possible to fine-tune this stroller’s five-point harness system to precisely fit your baby’s size. The harness belts and the seat are both padded to ensure your little one’s comfort. Things can be made nice and tidy by tucking the excess harness length under the padded seat.

What parents say

“The wheels are excellent and shock-resistant. High off the ground and really comfortable.” – L. September 20, 2011, 5 stars

Stroller reviews of Baby Jogger City Elite

The belly bar and snack tray are not included with the City Elite. The parent console is also sold separately; it comes with three compartments where you can place your drink and other small items. Parents would expect that this stroller would come with at least a belly bar given its price; this stroller’s various attachments must each be purchased separately.

What parents say

“I knew that the belly bar wasn’t included. Thus it is an additional cost which is $30. The snack tray was too high, so I went with the belly bar because I can attach toys and sippy cup straps right to it.” – J. August 13, 2010, 5 stars

“It can handle water bottles, cans, and thinner cups, but if you prefer the large gulp type drinks, you should acquire a cup holder. The parent console that comes with the stroller is wonderful for keys, cellphones, tissues, etc.” – J. August 13, 2010, 5 stars

Should You Consider Buying the City Jogger City Elite?

During its time, this stroller received excellent reviews. Many parents who purchased it have expressed great appreciation for both its price and features such as the huge canopy, adjustable handlebar, roomy padded seat, adjustable leg rest, and easy folding mechanism.

Some parents have said that if there was one thing they could change, it would be the storage basket. It could be a little small for some families, and it’s not that easy to access. It would have also been a complete package if accessories such as the belly bar, cup holder, etc. were included.
