Meet the Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller

The Baby Jogger City Mini stroller is a lightweight, durable, 3-wheeler which allows you to enjoy your strolls with speed and ease.

It’s easy to fold and unfold, has a great suspension system, is easy to push, has a huge canopy, and folds practically flat. With Baby Jogger’s patented Quick-Fold Technology, this stroller can be folded in one easy step, plus it can be carried in a folded position on public transport or in storage using its fold strap.

Value for Money

The price of the City Mini is $199.99. For a stroller with such an affordable price tag, the City Mini is of a quality you may anticipate. This rating is comparable to those of the other Baby Joggers in this review, and with the exception of a few small variances, their materials and designs are almost identical. Majority of parents who participated in our survey are happy with its price.

What parents say

“Good quality, affordable pricing, practicality, comfort, and security. It’s not simple, but it’s also not lux; it’s quite durable, nevertheless. For some reason, the green model was less expensive but 100% functional. I would purchase it again.” – G. February 14, 2022, 5 stars

“We chose this stroller since our oldest rented one when we were at Disney World. It’s worth every penny because it’s so simple to collapse, has a ton of storage, and is so easy to push on any terrain.” – A. March 18, 2019, 5 stars

Ease of Use

To fold the City Mini, all you need is one motion with one hand – just pull up on the grip on the seat. This stroller includes a carry strap and an automated lock. However, once folded, it is not self-standing. And while unfolding requires two processes, it’s still fairly simple.

The brake pedal is placed well to prevent any wheel interference. And because it is press-to-set and press-again to release, it is comfortable for sandal-wearing feet. Because of the lower seat and a frame bar across the back, the storage compartment on this stroller is medium in size and rather difficult to access. A medium-sized diaper bag can fit snugly in it. Its maximum storage bin weight is ten pounds.

From unboxing to being ready to stroll, parents needed almost 5 minutes to assemble the City Mini. The instructions for this stroller are easier to follow than those for other strollers of the same type and don’t require any tools.

What parents say

“We saved a lot of money compared to the newer model that fixes some of these problems. I’m not moaning about the well-known shortcomings of this model, such as the under-seat storage being difficult to access and the limited amount of hanging space from the handlebars.” – D. October 14, 2019, 5 stars

“To steer and fold, it is quite simple. The strap and tilt adjustments require some time to adjust.” – S. September 1, 2019, 5 stars

“My youngster adores it, and its design is quite comfy for both parents and children.” – I. August 12, 2019, 5 stars

“The fold’s simplicity makes the cost well worth it. It’s great that the bottom basket can hold all your belongings and that the straps can be simply changed to accommodate your child’s growth.” – C. February 14, 2017, 5 stars

Portability

When folded, the City Mini has a footprint of 8,300 cubic inches of space and weighs 17.6 pounds. As a result, it is a compact full-size choice that is also comparatively big and light. Before considering this stroller, it’s crucial to measure the space in your trunk or try placing it in the tightest area possible.

Some parents in our survey have reported that it’s a bit heavy but still manageable.

What parents say

“It is excellent and extremely simple to put together. It’s not too heavy. The brake system functions well, and the wheels turn without getting stuck. Much to my liking!” – M. April 2, 2022, 5 stars

“It’s heavier than I anticipated, but it’s also quite easy to push and move around. It’s very cozy for my son and has plenty of room. We’ll probably use it until he grows completely out of needing one.” – N. July 24, 2020, 5 stars

“It can be folded with one hand, and I can carry it on my arm. Both in the city and on short hikes, it is simple to use. As I walk the dog, I can operate it with one hand.” – H. August 7, 2019, 5 stars

“The most significant feature is that my grandson feels quite comfortable sitting in it. It is simple to open and close, and it’s light enough to lift in and out of my trunk.” – E. March 26, 2018, 5 stars

Maneuverability

The Baby Jogger City Mini is simple to push and turn. It nevertheless manages to push and turn easily despite having two front wheels. Maybe its tricycle design, as opposed to some of the competition’s four-wheeled strollers, is to account for this.

This stroller is agile enough to go through confined spaces without bumping into anything, and it can effortlessly push and ride over harder terrain if the front wheels aren’t yanked off course by minute imperfections on the road.

What parents say

“It is quite convenient to handle and move. The only drawback is that there is nowhere to place the cups or other items, but it is not a deal breaker.” – J. April 25, 2022, 5 stars

“It is simple to open and close with just one hand, has wonderful wheels for a park or a rocky sidewalk, and is quite light.” – P. September 2, 2020, 5 stars

“You can operate it with one hand, and it is quite simple to maneuver. Please be aware that despite its appearance, this is NOT a jogger stroller.” – S. July 25, 2019, 5 stars

Safety and Quality

The City Mini boasts attractive materials and connectors that are solidly built and easy to use. Its frame is straightforward and strong, with minimal give, and its smooth fabric evenly envelops the frame. While the material is simple to clean, it’s particularly not breathable.

Though not as slick as some of its competition, this stroller’s fit and quality are overall satisfactory. Its wheels are made of foam-filled polyethylene that won’t puncture, but they tend to become deformed with time.

What parents say

“The brake system isn’t the most effective. It’s the only thing I’d say is a little unstable.” – J. July 6, 2021, 5 stars

Accessorize Your Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller

The City Mini has a large, slender mesh pocket on the back of the seat where you can potentially store a phone, a set of keys, and possibly a small bottle of water. There are no cup holders or parent console included in the box. These can be bought individually.

Parent Tip!

Since its underneath basket is small, one parent got a diaper bag that straps onto the stroller handle; she finds it more convenient than placing it underneath. In addition, that bag has enough space for a cellphone and a bottle of water.

What parents say

“It doesn’t have as much storage as a typical stroller, so I added side mesh bags and clips to try to increase the amount of space.” – S. July 15, 2020, 5 stars

“This stroller has been great! It’s versatile and portable. Its accessories are fantastic, and you can buy them separately. My son likes it.” – R. November 23, 2019, 5 stars

“It doesn’t have cup holders or other parent-friendly features. Also, its storage basket is quite small. I bought the snack tray and folding the stroller with it attached was easy.” – J. May 9, 2019, 4 stars

Is the Baby Jogger City Mini the Right Stroller for You and Your Family?

The Baby Jogger City Mini scores well in terms of weight, folded size, and maneuverability.

Please be mindful that this stroller could be a challenge to use compared to its competition due to its small storage areas that’s hard to access plus a poorly placed peek-a-boo window. Still, it impresses with its budget-friendly price.

If you don’t mind a few hiccups such as the harness being a little annoying to manage, a rain hood not being included in the package, and its size that fills up small car trunks, then the City Mini could be a practical stroller option that’s worth considering for your family.
